wild thing handheld revver

The Wild Thing Handheld Revver is sound-based work constructed from an off-the-shelf Poulan Wild Thing chainsaw and L.E.D. Inferno Exhaust tip. Through the process of developing this work, the cutting bar was removed to cease its utilitarian function and conceptually pare down my examination into day-to-day cathartic moments of incessant engine revving. The aftermarket exhaust tip is an auditory/visual accessory that further emphasizes the saw engines new purpose, it’s connection to a broader phenomenon of exhaust modification, and more importantly, a cultural/subcultural fixation with embellished exhaust pipes and emitted sound.
